When deciding on which gauge, the higher the number the skinnier the post. Standard lobe piercings are a 20 gauge. Many people like 20 gauge in all their piercings. However, the piercing industry standardly pierces with a thicker post for more stability and often will use an 18 or 16 gauge, which is thicker than a 20 gauge. If in doubt, reach out to your piercer to ask which gauge you were pierced with. 

Length has to do with your ear thickness. The most popular length is 6mm. This is the shortest length and what comes standard with all of our sleeper earrings. We’re all different though and those with thicker ear lobes or cartilage may need a longer size, such as a 7mm or 8mm. You may also need a longer post if you’re still trying to heal a newer piercing and you need some extra space to accommodate any swelling.
